Moments from our San Juan River trips we cherish.

Everything You Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask!

About the Team!

Mackie

I know. I'd be afraid too!

Mackie has been fishing since he was two years old, learning from his mother and father, along with his grandfathers, and building a lifelong connection to the water. Over the years, he has fished across the country and beyond, eventually finding his home on the San Juan River.

He will be the first to tell you he does not know everything about the river--but he knows more than enough to put you on fish and give you every opportunity to catch them.

Mackie has fished in Arkansas, California, Canada, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon and Utah--each place adding to the depth and knowledge he brings to every trip.

More than anything, he loves teaching. Whether you're brand new or experienced, Mackie enjoys sharing what he's learned over a lifetime of fishing and helping others grow in both skill and confidence.

For Mack, guiding isn't just about catching fish--its about passing on knowledge, creating great experiences, and spending meaningful time on the water.

Tonja

On her fist fishing trip on the San Juan River

Tonja is really new to fly fishing, and was completely hooked from her first cast. Because she's a total rookie, she knows exactly what it feels like to be a beginner and loves helping others feel at ease and ready to give fly fishing a try.

Tonja's love and passion for the outdoors runs deep. She spent several seasons as a Wilderness First Responder, and helped guide backpacking groups on multi-day trips deep into the back country of the Rocky Mountains. Through this backcountry experience, she learned how to stay calm, capable and prepared in various outdoor situations...just ask Mackie how calm she stayed when she took a hook to the face.

She came of age in Albuquerque, but lived many years abroad. New Mexico is the home of her soul, and Tonja fell in love with the San Juan River at first sight. She's been drawn to the water ever since.

She believes a great fishing trip starts with a good conversation a little preparation, and someone in the boat who genuinely cares.
